A past steeped in history...

Everything started in 1930, when , after the purchase of numerous brands of Champagne and the estate of Château Phélan Ségur (Haut Médoc, near Bordeaux) ; René Chayoux, a prominent wine dealer of Champagne at the beginning of the 20th century, became the owner at the house of Champagne Ayala-Montebello.

From then on, a prestigious heritage was builtup : a vineyard, a great brand deeplyrooted in the Champagne Tradition, as well as the purchase of the “Château de Mareuil-sur-Ay”.

Throughout his life, he taught Baïa, his goddaughter, his passion for the Champagne winemaking area.

So, quite naturally in 1979, Baïa inherited the precious vineyard. During her career, she took great care of that heritage and then, her grandson eventually took over.

Since 2009, Matthieu LIMONGI, has been in charge of this heritage which lives on thanks to his passion and pride, being the third generation on this family estate located in Epernay, at the heart of the Champagne area.

Our winemaking area

Located in the world’s capital of champagne, most of the René Chayoux vineyard’s located on the south hillsides of Epernay, in the villages of Vinay and Brugny-Vaudancourt ; where the soil is favorable for the growing of the Pinot Meunier variety.

The other part of our vineyard is located at the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, mostly in Mardeuil where we mainly grow Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay varieties.

We are both attached to our area and commited to sustainable wine-growing so as to offer you exceptional wines.

Our Champagne is synonymous with moments of sharing, generosity and quality : it will lead you into a world of pleasure, sweetness and unexpected delicacies. Welcome to the René Chayoux world of Champagne !
